Canyoning in Reunion Island

Reunion Island is a scenic and canyoning paradise. It is located in the Indian Ocean east of Madagascar and belongs to the Mascarene archipelago, a French overseas department.
This natural paradise has become a high-level spot for canyoning. The size and technical level of its canyons makes it a worldwide reference.
We have several programs from high level but affordable canyoning, to the descent of the famous Trou de Fer, the canyon cited as the most difficult canyon and commitment in the world. Descended by us several times with clients on its two slopes; Bras de Mazerine and Bras de Caverne. Some of our programs are:
- Canyoning in Reunion Island (Level 1): Several canyoning descents for almost everyone such as Fleur Jaune Canyon – Bras Rouge Canyon – Trou Blanc Canyon.
- Canyoning in Reunion Island (Level 2): Several canyoning descents between the characteristic and famous Takamaka and Dudu.
- Canyoning in Reunion Island (Level 3): Several descents including the most demanding Takamaka and Trou de Fer.
- All programs include the descent of several ravines, the ascent of Piton de Neige (3070.50 m altitude) and visits to characteristic points of the island such as the active volcano of Piton de la Fournaise, a true emblem of Reunion, which rises to 2632 meters.
- Several of its most famous canyons are the TAKAMAKA and the great TROU DE FER, known as the most technical canyon in the world. Programa
DAY 1: Pick up rental car, arrangements and transfer to Cilaos.
DAY 2: BRAS ROUGE canyon intermediate and lower (V5 A4 III).
DAY 3: FLEUR JAUNE canyon (V4 A4 IV).
DAY 4: Transfer to Salazie.
DAY 5: Lower DUDU ravine (V4 A4 III).
DAY 6: TAKAMAKA canyon (V5 A6 IV).
DAY 7: Rest. Visit Piton de Fournaise.
DAY 8: TROU BLANC canyon (V3 A5 III).
DAY 9 and 10: Two options:
Option 1: ASCENT to Piton de Neiges (3.071 mts): Ascent to the top of the Indian Ocean. First day close to the refuge and second day ascent to the summit and descent. It is a long ascent and with enough unevenness that is recommended to make in 2 days, if someone would like to make it in only 1 day can consult us.
Option 2: Canyon of the RIVIERE DES ROCHES (V3 A5 III): Water canyon with numerous jumps and slides. The program can be extended one more day to make this canyon, we can also do it as an activity in case the planing is modified.
2 DAY : It is necessary to take into account that there are 2 days of travel between round trip by plane.

- A 3-day canyoning training in Spain is required before the trip. Not included in the price.
- Possibility of extending the program for more days.
- Mountain guide knowledgeable of the area and qualified according to the regulated training in Spain and Europe for each specialty (Canyoning Guide / Mountain Guide UIMLA and / or UIAGM).
- Our guides speak French and know Reunion Island to perfection, both geographically and in terms of culture, business, markets, etc., which will facilitate and enrich your stay on the island.
IMPORTANT
- It is essential to have done canyoning with us in Spain, France or the rest of Europe.
- Before making this trip it is essential to have done several level 3 and 4 canyons with us.
- Before the trip it will also be mandatory to take a training where individual progression and rescue techniques will be explained. The price of this training is not included in the price of the trip to Reunion Island. Contact us by clicking here.
- Maximum groups according to the level of the activity. The ratios are stipulated by security according to level and area.
- The guide may decide not to continue the activity for the safety of the group, either by weather, terrain conditions or physical form of any of the group members, this is important to know. You can visit our contracting conditions section.
- Participants will be able to use their own technical equipment if they have it under previous evaluation of the guide. The price of the activity will not vary.
- Although the participants are insured by our accident and civil liability insurance, it is mandatory to be a member of a mountain federation.
WE REPEAT:
- For this reason and for the safety of the group and the guide(s), it will be mandatory to do at least 2 to 3 canyoning trips together in Spain before the trip. At that time Roca y Agua Guides will evaluate the technical level of the group and will decide if the trip will take place or not.
- A good preparation and physical conditions adequate to the effort and slope to be made are recommended, since if you are not well prepared, your expectations in this activity, as well as those of the group, may be frustrated. This may lead to decisions being made during the program regarding the safety of the entire group.
